About Us
Pieter and Dawn Heres have been serving with Youth With A Mission since 1984, and have been involved with Cambodia for over 20 years.

We see our role as partners, trainers, and supporters. We have partnered with local churches and leaders to pioneer these schools. We have worked to help train teachers from the communities they work in, finding that they truly know how to impact their community best. Our work to support these schools after founding is one of our greatest joys--counseling leaders, providing spiritual support, and accountability.

We are currently leading the Humanities & Science (worldview) Schools here at YWAM Kona. We work to encourage young leaders to follow Jesus whole-heartedly and to make a difference in the lives of children at risk, the poor and the least.
​
We are also continuing our involvement with the Schools for Cambodia projects in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. The project aims to enable those from disadvantaged families to benefit from a Christian education, thus escaping the grip of poverty.
For 15 years Pieter was director of the IMPACT Center which, facilitates strategic missions efforts into Asia and the Pacific Region. He and Dawn are involved in several new initiatives in mercy missions including the YWAM Children at Risk Network.

Dawn is also part of the International Christian School where YWAM staff children from many different nations are educated.​

We are so proud of our sons, John-Paul & Jordan. Both are married, and they are each following Jesus and advancing his kingdom in their own vocations and daily lives.
